A master plan for an interpretive site at the Wayland Railroad site was prepared by HWA for the Wayland Historical Commission. The numerous railroad structures and features including the foundation of a turntable, a passenger depot and a freight house constitute an important and archeological resource for the town. Their central location enables the site to serve multi-purposes to the community including a rail-trail and the opportunity to showcase a key factor in the history and development of the town. The master plan explored numerous design possibilities through a several public forums as well as smaller group meetings and has helped mobilize interested town groups and local associations for a future interpretive site with wide support.
